I'm still here

It's been so long since i posted here that i'd completely forgotten how to go about it. But i thought i'd better show my face so to speak or i could end up losing my account and that would never do.

I've heard a lot about importing your LJ here so that you can cross post your entries, but i have no idea how to go about it. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks all.

Here are the instructions I was given. It took about an hour for my LJ to import here.

1. Go to your Dreamwidth profile page. Choose "organize". Click on "import content."
2. This will take you to an "Import Journal" page. At the bottom click the button that says "start another import". (If it's your first import, it may say "start import").
3. This will take you to a different "Import Journal" page. Where it says "choose a service to import from" click on LiveJournal. Below that are two boxes. Fill in your LIVEJOURNAL name and your LIVEJOURNAL password. Click on the button that says "continue".
4. This will take you to yet another "Import Journal" page. There will be a list of things to import. Click on everything. Then click "continue" at the bottom.
5. This will take you to a page to confirm the import. If it's got all the info correct, then click on the "start import" button at the bottom.
6. This takes you to the last page. If you only have the one journal, then there is nothing else to do but to occasionally click on where it says "refresh" on the little bar below the "Import status" every so often. The things that are finished will turn green, and it will tell you what's been done and what's waiting to be done. Do NOT click on the usual refresh thingie at the top of your taskbar. Do NOT click the "start another import" button at the bottom. Go do something else for a little while and then come back and click where it says "refresh" again, until all the uploads are finished. Your first import will take longer, since it will be uploading everything you've ever done on LJ.

Cross posting entries is not too difficult to do. You have to go into cross posting settings to set things up. You can find it at the bottom of your current entry. Click on the box that says cross posting setting. Then click on live journal and put in your username and password. Then when you post an entry, make sure the box is checked and it will cross post.

*waves hello* I'm very glad you stopped in and I hope you'll be able to cross post here so I can keep up with your doings! *hugs*

I imported my LJ, nice to have it backed up. Once that's done cross posting is pretty handy to! Good luck, I see others are helping you.

DW is logging me out as often as LJ. *grumble, gripe* I hope this works...

I don't think they will delete your account due to inactivity here but it's always a good idea to post an update every once in a while to be sure it stays active.

Glad to see you were given excellent instructions as to how to import your LJ journal here. It usually works perfectly though you might see some odd duplicates if a commenter has both a DW and LJ account. Don't worry about it if you see that. It's a really nice way to have a backup of your journal.

Did you ever get any snow? We have rainrainrain. :D It's supposed to rain all week and it's turned colder here. Well, it's more natural than the weird hot snap we had this past weekend. Very odd weather indeed. :)

Yes, I back up my journal here at least once a month.

Oh, I hate it when snow turns into ice. :( It can be very hazardous so I understand your worry even if you aren't the one driving. Stay safe, sweetie.

Rumor has it that we're to have snow flurries Thursday. Eeeek! :)
